The I-91 Charter Oak Bridge Project includes two projects designed to reduce congestion and improve safety in Hartford, East Hartford, and Wethersfield. DOT Project Nos. 0063-0703 and 0159-0191 were awarded to O&G Industries/Barletta Heavy Division (BHD), JV as one contract at a cost of $213 million. Work began on April 1, 2019 and is scheduled to be completed May 26, 2022.
O&G says the three-year project in Hartford “will make critical major improvements to an interchange notorious for mile-long backups” by doubling bridge capacity and improving the geometry of the connector.
